The SYCAMORE
gyroplane was appropriately named after the Sycamore tree, the
seed of which freely spins or auto rotates to the ground.
TWO SYCAMORE
models exist;
SYCAMORE Mk1:
is a fully enclosed, tandem gyroplane with duel controls and the
option to also remove side doors for open cockpit flight.

2. SYCAMORE Mk2000:
a duel tandem fuselage, without doors

Engine options
are:
Rotax 914 F2 a liquid and air cooled, four
cylinder four stroke turbo-charged engine (115 HP)
Subaru EJ 2.5. a liquid cooled, four cylinder
four stroke normally aspirated engine (160 HP)
The SYCAMORE’s structural design centers on important
safety aspects, allowing pilot and passenger to become enveloped
by a composite enclosure. The Mk1 has been designed to be the
“Rolls Royce” of affordable gyroplanes on the world market today,
and provides a high quality composite enclosure. Part of the value
proposition of purchasing the Sycamore is the safety that the
exceptionally strong, fully enclosed composite fuselage provides
to the pilot. . The composite fuselage is not a flimsy fairing
purely for the sake of looks but comprises part of the structural
strength of the aircraft and provides protection to the pilot. The fuselage is extremely tough and
durable. Ergonomics blend ideally with functionality, providing
the pilot with an easy to fly aircraft that has robust good looks
and excellent all round visibility.
The SYCAMORE’s simple and modular design has obvious benefits in
terms of safety and repair/maintenance costs, without sacrificing
quality. The rigid airframe is constructed from tough 6261-T6
aluminium.
Among the aircraft’s many advantages, is its adaptability to
overcome adverse flying conditions. Adverse factors may range from
windy weather, to extremely hot temperatures, which can severely
hinder optimum performance in other aircraft. Not so with the
SYCAMORE. The SYCAMORE is an aerodynamically stable aircraft under
a multitude of conditions, allowing it to fly safely because of
its responsiveness to the pilot’s commands. During windy
conditions it is even possible for the SYCAMORE to hover. The SYCAMORE is developed and tested in the harsh African
environmental conditions. Musina is situated at 1880 ft above sea
level and reaches temperatures of 43-46oC during December and
January.
The SYCAMORE is not only an excellent recreational unit but also a
practical and invaluable workhorse. It can be adapted for a
multitude of flying applications. It provides a very sturdy
platform, which enhances the capability of aircrew operators. It
is for example an excellent platform for aerial photography. The
farming community has provided a solid client base for the
aircraft. It has proven in a very short period of time to be the
ideal aircraft for border security patrols, anti-poaching
missions, game counting and game search, farm security functions
and even crop spraying applications. The low costs associated with
operating and flying this aircraft, make it’s use an opportunity
not to be missed.
